Global Mapper is a geographical data viewing and editing application that is used for GIS, remote sensing, photogrammetry, and hydrography. It allows users to interactively generate 2D and 3D computer representations of their data on screen as they work - so they can understand the data in the context of its surroundings. Users can also share map displays with other people on their network or over the internet as necessary. Global Mapper runs on Windows PCs with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 SP1 through 2020 Server R2 SP1 installed - including 32-bit and 64-bit hardware. Other versions of Windows are not supported. Three flavors of Global Mapper are available - Lite, Pro, and Enterprise. The features in the different versions vary from the Lite version to the Pro version and then to the Enterprise version. 3D support : Hardware assisted OpenGL for 3D mapping and manipulation; double buffered, full screen multi-display support; and faster hardware (and software) rendering (rendering performance: up to 25 times faster than other rendering engines). The 3D imaging core is highly optimized for rendering large swaths of terrain which enables better viewing of topological features such as streams, gullies or small hills/ridges/valleys. It can view up to 200' (60m) or more of terrain at once, and it is integrated with the geobody (entity manager). Users can create, manipulate and view 3D maps of data in their databases. Easy querying : Multiple key driven query interfaces; multiple layers of map display; large font size makes it easy to read small text; keyboard shortcuts for queries. Provides standard point-and-click functionality with the ability to combine map queries into custom scripts. The "barcode" style query interface shows all existing features which are available in the database, even if they are not shown on the map display at that particular time. GPS data : GPS exchange file (GPX format) readers and writers; different GPS datum support. The GPS coordinate system is defined by the WGS84 datum. Photo Surveyor : Photo Surveyor is for field-based georeferencing of photographs and satellite images. It is a workbench and workflow oriented solution and integrates with Global Mapper's GPS support. There are several tools within Photo Surveyor for georeferencing, including: aerial triangulation, auto-correlation, view matching, point matching , automated control point generation, control point editing and mixed R/G/B detected control points (e.g., red channel only pics). Photos can be georeferenced to any of several different coordinate systems (e.g., NAD_1983_StatePlane, ESRI ellipsoid, or WGS84). Software for calibrating cameras and GPS devices : Calibration with digital cameras; Time/Date stamping. Provides two interfaces to enable users to calibrate their hardware: a wireless interface and a serial interface. The wireless interface allows users to obtain a calibration file from their camera using a standard USB cable. It uses a laptop as a server which transmits the calibration file over the network for users to download onto their PCs or laptop computers. 67cfa1e7782031
